I would like to lose around 15 pounds and I am skeptical of MFP. I really want to do this and be happy, healthy, and confident again like how I was in high school. If you just follow the calories and incorporate exercise is that possible?

welcome! it is definitely possible! with everything, you get out of it what you put into it. be as accurate and honest as you can (food scales are helpful) and log even your bad days and you can accomplish your goals.
also, add me if you want, it's easier and more fun with friends to support you along the way.2 -
I wouldn't be able to lose weight without MFP.
Just as I couldn't be comfortable spending money without knowing the balance in my account, I'm not comfortable eating without having an idea of how many calories I have left before I can't lose weight anymore.
If you use MFP correctly, you WILL lose weight. It takes all the guess work out. No more guilt over eating something "bad" if you know you have enough calories for it1
