I have opened Gold Standard ON Whey.
expires 11/17 - very large bag. 90 servings (yes, costco).
I have closed expired CVS vanilla protein powder.
expires this month (almost free stuff).
I have read to use the opened one fist.
Opened product can get moisture and go bad.
CVS vanilla does not taste as good and has too much calcium carbonate.
I have read that expired protein powder can last an extra YEAR as long as it is not opened.
I will not throw it away. I am not financially willing.
I know there are people here that have been involved with powders for years.
I want their fair opinion.
I think it is best to use the Gold Standard powder first - right?

It may be a sell by date and not a use by date. You can call the manufacturer.0

The opened one isn't going to go bad.0

I would (and have...) use the expired one first. The opened one "could" go bad - if you store it in your bathroom! It'll be fine.0

I have yet to see protein powder properly stored go bad. Usually the dates are more a matter of best before, meaning the taste may not be up to the standard the company expects. Only some dates are actually true expiry dates. Trust you nose and your taste buds. If is smells bad, or tastes bad, toss it. If not, keep it.0

I'd use the open one first. The USDA allows food banks to give out dry goods like flour for up to 18 months after the sell by date. I share my protein with my husband and two teenagers, so its not much of a problem here.0

The open one might clump together from moisture making it harder to use....but IMO it wont go bad. Id use the open one first.0

When I started this journey I had an opened tub of Body Fortress which was expired. I used it. I didn't die. When I bought a new tub I noticed that the formulation had changed and the calorie count had increased from 170 to 200 per serving.0

I would use the about to expire one to make bars or energy bites.0

Both are fine for over a year assuming proper storage. I'd use the open one first and use the unopened expired when it's done, it'll be fine.0
