FITBIT Purchase

Thinking of purchasing a FITBIT. What are the pros and cons? Is there something I should know in advance before taking the plunge?

It all depends on what you want to do with it.
    1. Do you want a fancy step counter that will sync with an app to track and chart your progress? Then a FitBit is for you (Zip, One, or Flex).
    2. Are you getting serious about your running and want to start getting an idea of your stride, pacing, and heart rate? Then get a Garmin or a FitBit Charge HR.
    3. Do you want to have a watch and an extension of your iPhone on your wrist? Then get a Surge.
Is price an issue? Then see step 1 above.

The THING YOU MUST KNOW is these little bitty things are easy to lose. So have a routine where you put it on and take it off. I don't take mine to the swimming pool any more.

I've had my Charge HR for over a year and love it. Worth every penny. It made me aware of how inactive I was throughout the day and motivated me to start walking more (and eventually start running). Plus, their customer service is awesome.

I have had my Fitbit charge since late January 2016. Pros: It keeps up with the number of flights of stairs that I climb per day, resting heartrate, hours of sound sleep, and so much more. Plus, the Phone app is where it exceeded expectations. Did I say that it counts your steps? Cons: It is not water proof.

I went through 3 or 4 Fitbit Ones over a couple years because I'd occasionally forget to take them out of my pocket before doing laundry. Ultimately gave up and got a Garmin watch. :)

I forgot to mention. I use the Fitbit for anything physical and Myfitnesspal for anything consumed (food and liquid) that way they stay in sync. I have found if I try to sync anything physical including other apps to both they get out of sync.
