Irrational mentality. Support please?

I only started this app yesterday, with the goal of losing down to 185 pounds. (Im 217 and 18 years old.) I have an anxiety disorder and I feel kinda worried because after breakfast this morning, (Around 300 calories ) I had an irrational mindset that it would be better to stop there for a day or even eat nothing at all. Or that 300 calories is too much. Obviously, I know im thinking irrationally. But im worried i might keep this mentality or develop an eating disorder. Logically, I know this is very unlikely to become true, but I could really use some reassurance. Could it just be that im overwhelmed at the moment and will probably feel better later? Thank you for reading!

I know how you feel, Ive rencently been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, and when I just started (just over a year ago) I felt the same way, I think you might just be a littlw overwhelemed by the newness of it all (as was I when i started) I was really worried about annorexia and orthorexia (never developed anything), I do try to keep with an 80/20 rule when it comes to dieting (80% clean healthy meals, 20% unhealthy/snack fast food candy type foods) just so i dont get too stressed. If you dont mind m asking what is your calorie count? If its 1200 (for 2 lbs/1kg a week) let me advise you to at least half that for a while, for me it was really a struggle because all of a sudden I was limiting myself so much it caused me even more stress and anxiety than usual. (And lower it again when your more used to it physically)
Let me reassure you that 300 kcal is a great breakfast! But definetly not enough for the entire day I try to aim for at least 300 kcal for every meal (usually a more depending on the meal )
Btw - If you ever need to chat to someone who is in a similar situation as you feel free to add/ message me0 -
It does sound like you are a tad bit overwhelmed, but only *you* can decide that for sure, and I'm not an expert in this area, so I can't offer personal advice. If you're really really worried, it would be a good idea to visit a professional at least once a month to discuss your thoughts and feelings about food. The professional can help keep you on track if you start to deviate towards disordered eating habits. If you can't afford a professional, check in with a support group or with a community, like here on MFP, to stay on track.anne_driessen wrote: »I know how you feel, Ive rencently been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, and when I just started (just over a year ago) I felt the same way, I think you might just be a littlw overwhelemed by the newness of it all (as was I when i started) I was really worried about annorexia and orthorexia (never developed anything), I do try to keep with an 80/20 rule when it comes to dieting (80% clean healthy meals, 20% unhealthy/snack fast food candy type foods) just so i dont get too stressed. I think this bolded part should be clarified, just in case. Half your weekly weight loss goal, NOT the 1200 calories.2 -

You're an 18 year old male...you need a crap ton of energy (calories) to maintain your weight which means you can still eat quite a bit and lose weight...I'm 41 and lost 40 Lbs eating around 2,300 calories per day. Calories are a unit of energy...your body needs energy just to exist...a lot of it...the average male burns 1800-1900 calories just existing...that doesn't even take into account everything else you do beyond merely existing.0

Hang in there, I know how stressful and scary starting to live differently can be. But it's awesome that you've started! The thoughts will calm down. And if they don't there's help you can get and lots of other people with anxiety who can offer support here, myself included. Keep logging in and asking for help when you need it. You're on your way to a new and happy life!1

It's a female, but you're still right, she needs enough calories.....0
