Weight loss, should i be doing just cardio ?

To lose weight should I just be doing cardio ? I was doing cardio and lifting weights, But I was told by a friend that you should only do cardio. Then lift weights after you have lost the weight

Nope. Lift weights now. I have done this twice since 2012 due to a pregnancy and this second time I couldn't lift weights while dropping the pounds and now I am lighter then I was before with a higher body fat and more jiggle.

    Nope.

It's true you might lose pounds faster, but that's because you'll lose more lean mass if you don't do any strength training. And it's much, much slower to lose lean mass and then rebuild it versus not losing it to begin with.

All that is needed for weight loss is a calorie deficit (eat less calories than your body requires to maintain its current weight). Cardio is useful if you want to eat a few more calories. Do continue with the weight training.

The veterans here say the opposite. Lift throughout so you have a trim body when you hit your target.

It is true you burn more calories when you hit a cardio workout of a certain duration and heart rate, but the amount of calories you burn is still small. For instance my twenty minute run earns me two chocolate chip cookies. A drop in the bucket calorie wise.

Surely when losing weight you don't give up all activities that are neutral towards your goal. For instance are you giving up reading, television, sleeping?

Your weight loss will come from staying on target for your calorie goal. Everything else you do is for your pleasure.
