having to make changes but what about partner?

so I am having to make changes as I am lactose intolerant ,

now I am really having to watch what I eat is it fair to make the other half switch over to non dairy?

I don't drink milk any so I will continued to get that as he has cereal each morning. he does not need to lose weight as he is trying to get bigger eating loads of high calorie food to gain weight as his job is very active he burns a lot of cals a day more than he eats most days.

he loves classic English meals and very basic meals we try to eat healthy but as he has chips with everything I tried to have salad or potatoes and veg
fish and chips
pie and chips
sunday dinners
salad and chips ( I have just the salad )
chips with anything
pasta bake

can I peel of the bits that contain lactose eg the batter from the fish? and still be ok to eat it and not get ill?
What can I cook which I can eat and he can to? is it fair to change his diet just because of me?
is pasta ok to eat? with a tomato sauce and meat?

sorry for all the questions I am just stuck

why dont you ask him what his feelings are about switching his diet to match yours?

When my wife became pregnant, her body changed to not tolerate certain foods and now that she is nursing our daughter, we have found through trial & error that certain foods mess with her breastmilk and in-turn our daughter. I made the small changes with her because it made it easier on her to not have those foods around, now I don't even miss them or I eat them when I am not with her to not tempt her. Talk to him and voice your concern and have a couple of suggestions on how to work together on it.

you should be able to make a batter without milk.....mixes that just need water or just egg. As for him switching to match your diet you can bring it up with him and see what he thinks. My husband recently had a stent put in and had to completely overhaul his diet, which wasn't terrible to begin with but the main obstacles are white flour and sodium. It has been rough but I cannot imagine making him stumble through it alone so our whole family is following his heart healthy diet, which isn't a bad thing. I would never want him to feel deprived or keep temptations in the house that could make him sick so I dove in head first finding new recipes and new brands to use. I think it is all in how you approach him about it.
