After seeing a commercial, I wanted to try McDonald’s breakfast biscuit sandwich.

I have a weakness for biscuits.

So I looked up the nutritional info on the website. 460 calories, OK. I can do that.
Only 50 cal more than my other morning indulgence – Pret croissant. (they unfortunately don’t publish ingredients, just the nutritional info, I’ve got to get on that, maybe it will cure me). Anyhow, looking further, at the ingredient list, I see a s*tload of phosphates, nitrates, hydrogenated oils, things like modified cellulose…

This is folded egg part:
FOLDED EGG
Allergens: EGG, SOY LECITHIN, SOY LECITHIN
Ingredients: Pasteurized Whole Eggs, Modified Food Starch, Soybean Oil, Natural Flavors (Plant Source), Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Carrageenan, Flavor Enhancer (Salt, Maltodextrin, Natural Flavor [Plant Source], Spices, Herb, Turmeric [Color]), Monosodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Soy Lecithin.
And EVERYTHING, pretty much every component is prepared with liquid Margarine. I mean, it is hard to conger up a worse combination than this:

Prepared with Liquid Margarine:
Liquid Soybean Oil and Hydrogenated Cottonseed and Soybean Oils, Water, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Mono and Diglycerides, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate (Preservatives), Artificial Flavor, Citric Acid, Vitamin A Palmitate, Beta Carotene (Color).

So I just could not buy it.

Same goes for jello puddings and other low calorie treats. I look at the ingredient list and I just can’t do it.

After I looked at the ingredients in Hellman’s light mayo, (15 calories per spoon) I could not bring myself to eat it. Now I’m eating real mayo at 100 calories per table spoon.

*deep sigh*
