Just started and I've already plateaued?

Argh!! So this is my second time losing weight. In 2009 I was once 130 pounds and now i'm 160. Needless to say, it's time to lose the weight. So I started counting calories (1200 a day) and exercising 5-6 days a week. I'm also a barista and I usually work 6 to 8 hour shifts.

I initially lost 4 pounds and that's it! The scale has not budged in two weeks despite everything I've done. I don't really fill out the diary on here, I usually keep track in my head but I'm going to try enter it.

What can I do?

A plateau would be longer than 2 weeks, also if you don't log it's likely you're overeating

Cant advise if we cant see a diary. Logging really is an essential tool.

Weigh everything, log it, and eat back your exercise calories. Do this for another 4-6 weeks, then report back.

I find "keeping track in my head" doesn't really work, as little oddments get forgotten (happy birthday, co-worker and thanks for the cake:bigsmile: ), weights are not accurate (and so nor will calories be) and I can always convince myself a top-up of wine is not a problem and will not put me over, because surely the glass wasn't full in the first place:drinker:

Just because weight has not moved for a week or two, doesn't necessarily make it a plateau - sometimes its just being female!:grumble: then 2lb comes off all at once.

When i recommend the site to poeple they often say "I've not lost weight", i ask if the logged everything and get a variety of muttered replies "forgot at the weekend", "no time" , "Just kept a general log in my head".

Theonly days I've not logged since joining here in January were 2 days when I was on holiday and had no internet access. 2 days in over 6 months. Proof of the pudding and all that........
