Patience for the long haul - how to hush the inner brat who wants to see results NOW

So I'm like a kid at Christmas....have been at this for 37 days. So basically a newbie. I know it will take a minimum of 9 months to a year to get 70 pounds off but my energy level is up. I am riding 10 miles on the bike and doing 5 mile walks and starting to work on my upper body and working the nutrition.

I also know that slow and steady wins the race. I'm pushing just hard enough to not get injured or burned out.
7 pounds gone so far and that was a few weeks back.

Only weigh in once a month. Don't want to get obsessed with the number on the scale. Next weigh in will be June 1st - 15 days from now.

Some days my clothes seem looser other days they are still snug. Definitely more toned but that patience stuff man it's hard.

Can't wait for those results to start showing up.

Time will tell when we are swimming at the Lake -really, really, really want to be able to see a significant change by the end of summer.

For those of you who have lost 70 or more how did you hush the inner brat and get past not having patience with yourself in the beginning.

It will probably get better once I get my job and am not hyper focused between job search and getting healthy. I'm working on one or the other all day everyday.

Patience is the virtue of all mankind. ( a quote I said in a beauty pagent in high school - LOL)

With athletes, those that are intrinsically driven are, in my experience, always more successful than those that are extrinsically driven. You need to look at what you said, embrace one part and ignore the other.
...but my energy level is up.

^^^^^^^This is extremely important. That is change you can feel. That's your body telling you, inside and out, things are moving in the correct direction. You also said,
Don't want to get obsessed with the number on the scale.

Be consistent with that and use the same discipline with your patience and the mirror. Focus on the inner drive and how you feel. The better one feels, the harder one continues to work. Ignore the extrinsic and trust that the intrinsic is taking care of things. It will come.

    Good luck!
