    It's mostly what you eat.

Did you have a flat belly before pregnancy? Are you at a normal weight now?
After I had my 1st baby I thought there was no way my stomach would ever be the same again. However, I've since had two more babies and know now that it can be done. You need to lower your body fat which can only be done by eating less than your body burns. If you aren't doing so already, you should incorporate some sort of resistance or strength training. Everyone here suggests following a program like stronglifts 5x5, but i used machines when I went to the gym and now I use barbell plates at home.

Reasonable calorie deficit + strength training of some sort + decent protein intake (0.8 g per lb body weight)

Is it possible you could have diastasis recti? I know theres target exercises to help close the gap.

Is it loose skin? That just takes time to tighten up and if you have a lot of stretch marks, it may not go all the way back. You can be skinny with loose skin.

After my first it took me getting to a BMI of 20 or under and doing a variety of exercises (cardio and strength) to get the flat tummy. Even 10 lbs made a difference in how much it stuck out (especially that lower bit).

I'm 27 with 2 kids aged 10&3 pre pregnancy weighed 100lbs and am now 130lbs but can't shift the belly no matter how hard I try! I gained 75 pounds first time around and am resigned to never getting a flat belly back after being streached to oblivion. I stick to 1200 cals or under a day and exercise 4 times a week

Id say reduce your cardio and increase strength training. I've had more comments about looking like I've lost weight after I switched from mostly cardio (running) to mostly strength.
I do body weight exercises with bursts of high intensity cardio moves (skaters, knee highs, mountain climbers, etc).
I have distasis recti so my stomach won't ever be flat without surgery. Sometimes that's just what happens after kids.

My immediate reaction to the thread title was "that's even a thing?" (being able to lose it) haha

I highly suggest this thread. I wrote it and I'm a mom of 2 who was obese when I got pregnant.
