As others have said, if you have significant weight to lose, it will take a while. According to your profile, right now you're 20 years old. Assuming a very "do-able" 1/2 pound a week weight loss, in a year you could be 26 pounds lighter than you are now (52 weeks x .5). The thing is, in a year you'll be 21, and you can be 21 at your current weight (or higher) or you can be 21 and 26 pounds lighter (or more?) and healthier. The point is, that in a year you're still going to be 21 and you can be lighter and healthier or you can be the same (or worse) than you are now.
