Tell me how you guys arrived at your total calorie intake you needed to consume to lose significant amount of weight?

And include any websites or any other info you used to help you with your final number. I've barely started and am in midst of figuring out whether my 1,330 per day is correct for ME.

I input my numbers into MFP...
Try it and see if you lose weight. If you do, then it's the right amount. Right?

I logged everything I ate and my weight every single day, and Excel told me what my maintenance calories are. For me, it takes 90 days to get accurate results; shorter periods are thrown off enough by random fluctuation that they aren't reliable.

When I started, I input my current weight, lifestyle, etc. into MFP's page. The default was one pound per week, so I left that alone. THAT set my initial calorie budget.
Then after each ten pounds lost, I revised my weight, leaving all else as it was.
When I reached my goal, I went back & selected "maintenance," and that was it. I DID need to manually revise the maintenance calorie budget a couple of times, though.
    Simple.

I follow the numbers MFP gave me. It's working well so far
