Can I do it?

Hi. I am new to MFP but I find it very motivating. I was always overweight but ended up losing 37 pounds at a certain time of my life, which got me at my lowest weight ever: 138 pounds. Unfortunatly I didn't take good care of me and ended up gaining it all back. Right now I am at 168 pounds (already lost 5 pounds in 10 days). I am doing the 30 day shred, am at Level 2 now and it has been working great. Today I also added walking which I intend to do 5 days a week. I started by walking 2 miles today but want to get to 6 miles as I get stronger and healthier. My goal is to weigh 121 pounds (I'm 5 ft 7 in) but since my lowest was 138 I wonder if I can get to 121. I have seen many success stories where people who started with a much bigger weight than I did were able to reach that goal. I didn't exercise when I weighed 138, I just ate healthy. Now, I am tired of not having the body I want, so I want the 121 goal. But is it possible for me? Isit a realistic goal? Please give me your input and advice. Thank you.

At 5' 6" my lowest healthy weight is 125...so it seems to me that 121 might me a bit low since you're a full ince taller than me. Instead of focusing on such a small number, how about getting back down to 138 and then forget the scale and work on toning. That's more likely to give you the body you want and in a healthier manner. Don't obsess over the number on the scale, worry about what you see in the mirror!

i thiink 121 is low. add some strength training to your routine, and you will probably find that you are happier at a higher weight, with a bit less bodyfat.

Fast loss equals failure. You have to train your mind as well as your body. You lived a certain way for years and years you can NOT expect success over night. You have to train and train this takes time and effort. If you aren't willing to commit to a new life style all around mentally and physically then you have failed yourself. You need to dig deep into your soul and find the heart it takes to change YOU. Completely.

I'm not expecting to lose the weight fast. I am not on a diet, I am making a lifestyle change because I don't wanna look back when I'm older and regret only eating junk. I want what I eat and the exercise I do to reflect in my health. Yes, I am doing it to lose wiehgt, but being healthier is a huge part of it. So I am making a change for the better. And I WILL stick to it.
