I am in the dressing room at the gym and hear this continual loud dropping of weights. Come out and for the first time in all the years I've gone to this gym a guy is there deadlifting. I wanted to just pull up a seat and watch him but the gym was busy and truly felt like I'd look like a creeper standing there. There wasn't a good place to gawk! LOL :p I love to watch the videos you all put up, but seeing it in person had me so curious.

I once had a lady come up to me in between sets while I was deadlifting, albeit before I had any kind of good form, and tell me, "I wish I could do that!" I definitely took it as a positive thing. I guess what I'm getting at is that while, yeah, it'd be weird to stare, but if you see an opening (i.e., you're not interrupting him in the middle of his sets), it might not be totally weird to just tell him you're impressed. Also, I might be off here, but I don't think you should be hearing the weights dropping loudly. I'm pretty sure lowering the weight with control is a big part of deadlifting!

He was lifting a lot, I don't know how much but there were 3 or 4 huge plates on each side. I did get a look from around the corner and he seemed to be dropping it a couple inches from the floor. I couldn't tell if he let go of the bar or not. It got everyone's attention for sure. I hope he's there again.
