Ugh, this looks so disgusting! I just saw this one TV: c cheeseburger that's got TWO GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES as the bread!

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/beefing-up-the-gluttony-us-burger-joint-unleashes-1500-calorie-sandwich/article1613861/

1,500 calories, 97 grams of fat! No wonder why America has such health problems!

Actually, I've seen worse nutritional information for a burger before. Unless it's turkey or bison, any restaurant sized burger is going to be up there in the 90's for fat grams. :noway: It's ridiculous.

What's really funny is I was going to have grilled cheese for lunch today. Hahaha. Maybe I'll throw a turkey burger patty in between two.

I don't think it looks very good, especially for 1500 calories. If I wanted a burger w/ that many cals, I'd go to Red Robin, YUM!! LOL

I saw that, too! Did you see the chicken strip sandwich, too!? I just about died when I saw that! No wonder America is such an overweight country!

I agree, we eat like crap in the US, but consider the fact that in Europe they drown their french fries in mayo!

I just showed this to my boyfriend and he said, "We could make that healthier with a veggie burger and reduced fat cheese." He isn't dieting with me so I was pretty impressed by his suggestion. I'm seriously considering it right now.

Just input all the ingredients (minus veggies) into my food diary. I also used ground beef instead of his veggie burger suggestion.

    4 pieces Healthy Life bread
2 slices of sargento reduced fat cheese
4 oz of supreme lean ground beef
2 tbsp of brummel & brown yogurt spread

    Calories 540
    Carbs 36
    Fat 28
    Protien 45
    Sodium 840
    Fiber 12

With the veggie burger (morning star farms california turkey burger) instead:

    Calories 460
    Carbs 43
    Fat 25
    Protien 31
    Sodium 1160
    Fiber 17

Okay, now that is gross. Having a burger with grilled cheese as buns is essentially like having a burger with two slices of cheese, but.... the chicken sandwich has gone too far. Just.... Gross.

I'm thinking about it right now, and since I was going to have grilled cheese for lunch with some soup today... I could make one of those burgers with 18 grams of fat. Four sunbeam bread slices, two kraft american cheese slices (not even reduced fat!), butter spray, and a boca burger. That's just with the ingredients I have with me. You could probably make one with around 7 or 8 grams of fat if you used a boca burger, very light bread, and fat free cheese. (I wouldn't even do it though. Fat free cheese tasted kind of nasty.)
  • I need to make one, just once...maybe share it w/ my husband..it looks so good and i will eat light the rest of the day!

Well, clearly KFC's Double Down has set the standard for food industry innovation. Why limit yourself to 1 sandwich when you can essentially have...3 SANDWICHES!!!!! I swear, Man Vs. Food is going to become standard eating procedure before too long...

Lol. I want to try one at least once too, but I probably never will. I could exercise like crazy and have plenty of calories to eat one, but I'd just feel too guilty. :P

Um, yeah. I'm in the "I would eat that" camp.
The picture in my head definitely looked better than the actual picture though. I could definitely make one that rocked a whole lot more for less than half the cals.

In fact, all I can think about now is eating a pattymelt. *drool*
So... yeah, that'll be in my near future. Though I suppose I'll try to "healthy" it up a bit (as much as a pattymelt can be...).

Put me in the camp of "would eat that." I think I saw this on one of those food shows (Man vs. Food or Diners Drive Ins and Dives) and thought it looked good.
Man Vs. Food is going to become standard eating procedure before too long...
I have to admit I was at a burger place a couple of weeks ago that had a challenge and considered it for a minute.:frown:

Having the grilled cheese burger is two grilled cheese sandwiches with a burger in the middle! Not really a cheese burger with two slices of cheese...

Oh, I ALWAYS want to do those kinds of challenges. The sad thing is I think I could probably win some of them, too. :frown:

  • I would never forgive myself if I ate that. My body is so use to eating healthy, whenever I eat something I consider bad I feel like total crap. Its totally not worth it. And who needs to eat that much in one sitting anyway??? Thats more calories than I eat in a day. Its un-natural to consume that many calories in one sandwich!!!!!
