How many calories should I be running for a deficit?

So I did the calculators on http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ and got my Body Fat % and my BMR. It says to reach my target weight of 195 Pounds (I am currently 227Ibs at 6'2") I need to be eating 2890 calories. That sounds really high for a deficit. Any advice? Thanks!

MFP thinks my intake should be 1890 or something like that to run a deficit...any thoughts?

Mine's at 1730. That number depends on the number of weeks you plan to reach your target weight over, so it depends on that along with your current stats. 1890 doesn't sound too far off.

It can also depend on how active you are. If you are super active and workout most days- then that might be accurate. 2890 seems high to me, but I'm a short lady- so I need a lot less calories.
  • you can drop a few hundred unless you do intense workouts and still have plenty of energy. Remember the more fuel the more power to spark the metabolism.

How active are you? What is your current body fat %? 2800 seems way too high...

    Current stats are 6'2" 227Ibs with a BF % of 26.1%

I am trying to get down to about 12% BF. My weight isn't as important as reducing my BF% because I plan to bulk after I get it low enough.
