Best way to bounce back after a holiday weekend?

So I live at the beach in San Diego and mine and my fiance's families visit from Arizona all the time. Two of my sisters and 3 friends came to stay with us for the 4th of July holiday weekend, from Wednesday- Sunday. I know I don't have to go way off my eating and exercise plan, but come on... it's HARD to stick with it when your house is full of people who are on vacation and ready to party! It's our job (and we love to do it) to show them the best time. Also, this happens often (as it's 115 in AZ and 75 in SD... we have visitors all summer!) so I'd like a solid plan to get over these food and drinking binges.

So after 4 solid days of drinking and eating heavy food (red meat and carbs!!!!!!!!!!), I weighed myself today and don't appear to have gained. I feel lazy and crappy though.

I have two main questions here:

Will any gains show up on the scale immediately?

What is the best way for me to bounce back and rid my body of all of the junk?? Thinking of little/no carbs, sugar, red meat for a week? Will my body adjust naturally? I feel so heavy and like crap! Lots of water is definitely in the plan.

i don't know too much about if or when the holiday weight will hit, but if it does, don't see it as a set back. if it doesnt, well done, you've maintained!
personally if i have a bit of a binge weekend and i'm back on MFP i tend to just be really strict until the next holiday/birthday comes along. occasionally i'll have a 'fasting' day (500 - 600 calories for one day) straight after the holiday to get myself feeling less bloated and a bit more alert and back to normal.

also i find that if i allow myself treats within my calories in general life, when it comes to holiday time, i don't go all that nuts, and half the time only eat around 2000 cals for the day anyway.

sorry if that's all a bit vague. don't be discouraged if the scales stay the same for a bit - hopefully you had a good weekend and that's the main thing :)

I did the same. Unfortunately I got on the scale this am and I was 4 lbs up. I'm hopping this is water weight and not actual weight. I ate crappy and drank some but it was not all crap. So today I'm back at it. Drinking water and riding my bike. So to answer ur question I think it is based on ur body type.

I drank so much alcohol on July 4th that I weighed myself the next morning and was down 5lbs! talk about dehydrated! then I drank a BUNCH of water and was back up those 5lbs by that afternoon. So hopefully those 4lbs are just water weight as well :)

Those are great tips! I really like the idea of a very low calorie or fasting day to make up for anything I ate or drank over maintenance.

Can't regret it too much, we did have a really fun weekend :) I just know that I run into these types of situations often and would like a solid plan for the days or week afterward.
