Conditioning for skiing

Hi there. I'm looking for advice on some exercises that would help me get in good condition to ski this winter. I haven't been able to ski with my BF the past few years because I've been so out of shape and it's broken my heart because skiing was one of my favorite activities when I was young.
I'm only back at the gym about 10 weeks now but I've had great progress on my cardio (running) and body weight strength exercises. I am planning on starting SL 5x5 in a couple weeks after I get back from my vacation.
I'm thinking good old fashioned wall sits and stair running is a good place to start. Anything else I should consider?
Thanks!

Basic cardio and weight training (especially squats) helps me get ready. As you get closer to the season, high rep squatting gets the quads ready for the load.0
