"Volume" Eating

Hello all. I've been dealing with a situation I'm hoping to get some insight on.

I've been in maintenance for a little over a year now and weight lift for 5 times a week for an hour each session. My problem is that I'm finding that I am SO hungry on the days I lift. Like, I am hungry all day long. It's actually has become a joke in the office in which I work as I'm eating ALL DAY LONG.

I generally have 2 breakfasts (one right after lifting and then another a couple of hours later) and 2 lunches with multiple snacks throughout the day. I generally don't eat at night as this is the ONLY time of the day I am not hungry. This generally totals about 1700 calories & I weigh EVERYTHING during the time in which I am food prepping for the week.

Has anybody had the same experience and what did you do to help combat this hunger?

What are you eating for breakfasts and lunches?

Is your TDEE on work out days 1700 calories? Just because you're eating all day long doesn't mean you are eating enough. Are you getting enough fats?

Breakfast #1: Cereal with almond milk along with a protein shake
Breakfast #2: Either a 3 egg omelet ( 1 egg with the balance being egg substitute) with a meat (turkey sausage or bacon), veggies, & cheese

Wow. I don't know what my TDEE is on workout days. This just blew my mind that I had never thought of that. I'll check it out.

And I believe I am getting enough fats. I have my macros set at 35/35/30 while I generally meet those.

    Thank you for this......

You are my hero. Thank you for pointing out the obvious that I, obviously, didn't pick up on. I just ran my stats through www.iifym.com and I am below my calories by 200-400 calories a day, depending on the intensity of my workout.

I am going to watch this more carefully. Thank you.

Yep, it's not uncommon. Insatiable hunger was one of the reasons weightlifting didn't stick for me because losing weight is very hard when you struggle to produce a deficit. I simply stopped doing it, but I don't think that's an option for many who enjoy it. Have you considered zigzagging your calories where you eat more on lifting days then balance it out with lower intake days?

Very good point @amusedmonkey. It's nice to hear it is not uncommon. Sometimes you don't know if this is common or not without asking the question. And I'm so glad people have taken the time to respond.

I don't plan on giving up lifting as I absolutely love it and what it's doing to/for me so I'm trying to figure out my next step. I am definitely going to start zigzagging my calories a bit. I did give myself a little bit of leeway on my lifting days but obviously not enough.
