My favorite thing about finally being fit

Not since my teens have I been this fit, and I have NEVER had endurance like I do now.

After over a year of losing weight, running, riding, cross training, etc, I did a 13-mile loop on my new mountain bike and when I finished felt like I could have done it again (and would have if I didn't have places to be).

With scenery like this, it shouldn't be called exercise.

I have never been this fit ... not even in my teens ... and I'm 42 now. I never piled on too much weight (never above 220lbs), but I was always overweight from about the age of 11. I am now 3lbs short of being out of the overweight BMI and into NORMAL! Just to know (soon) that I am a normal, healthy weight is enough for me.

Other good things:The fact that I can buy nicer clothes and look ok in them; the fact that I can run 10k in well under an hour; the fact that I know I am now capable of running a half marathon; the fact that people have recently really started noticing my weight loss and complimenting me; the fact that I will be around to see my daughters grow up and to hopefully have grand-children because of my efforts. All of these things make me happy.

    Thanks, folks.

I was in shape until my early 20s when I stopped "playing outside" and discovered beer. Then came various desk jobs and the last ten years were a wash.

I turned 35 two days ago and now I figure I've got 20 great mountain biking years left in me.
