Nuts and seeds are for birds and squirrels (not humans)

I read the article. About 3 times.
Ok, here's the thing that bugs me about it. And it's not just this one I see this all the time in nutrition articles. Someone will say "Food/Chemical X does Y" But they never say how MUCH it does.
Because like, if it's 5% change or something I don't care. I'm going to pick a different battle when attempting to build a healthful diet. It's it's 500% I'll go throw out the almonds in the fridge.0 -
in for salty nuts. now make with the gifs

Thank you to all the people on here who have read the article and posted useful responses challanging the assertions and studies used.
To all the people who have posted knee-jerk reactions to the title about eating like birds etc. thanks for not adding anything useful to the debate at all. I posted this to get objective and rational responses from a like-minded community and you have not been helpful at all - so thank you. I find it amusing how the majority of people on here seem to take everything so personally and are unable to engage in any kind of rational and considered discussion. It's not like i said that you can't eat nuts, I just put something out there that I thought might challange the way you think about the way you frame your diet. Obviously too much for most0 -
I am aware that this will probably be a contraversial post because I know how much people on here love their nuts. This article was written by a nutritionist that comes highly recommended by someone highly qualified in the fitness industry that I greatly respect and who believes in a very balanced and sensible (and science-based) approach to nutrition and fitness. So have a read and tell me what you think.

Nuts provided our ancestors with nutrition and energy to get through lean times and thrive. That is good enough for me to think of them as healthy. At the family farm we have English walnuts, Chinese chestnuts, and I just planted some more filberts (aka hazelnuts) been eating them since I was a child and wont stop anytime soon.0

Personally? If I didn't have the caloric boost from a tablespoon of PB or a handful of nuts, I'd rarely meet my calorie goals. I agree that everything is okay in moderation, and I saw that in the article. However, I don't necessarily think that it should be taken as truth. All research must come with a grain of salt, taking in to particular consideration research bias.
Understanding research bias (and I'm not sure what this dietician's is, I didn't do any further research on her) is vital. Since she cited only studies which agreed with her point, and didn't present anything conflicting, I'm suspicious not necessarily of the validity of her argument, but of some of the conclusions such as "anti-nutrients." I'm not a dietician, but I know for a fact that the human body is FULL of mysteries. And, quite likely, whatever conclusions drawn in this article may be a culmination of misunderstood research results and lack of research of the other side.
I love nuts. I will continue to om nom them for life.
Just my two cents. Now for a slow loris.
