This is one of my favorite breakfasts and I could easily eat it for days in a row.
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1 cup boiling water
1 apple, any kind (I use McIntosh when in season or Braeburn)
cinnamon
1/2 cup milk (I use 1%)
Pour the oats into a leakproof container and pour hot water over them. Cover with lid.
Peel and cut up apple. Sprinkle cinnamon to taste on the apples. Microwave for 3 - 3 1/2 minutes.
I prepare the oatmeal before work or let it sit overnight. I take the two containers with oatmeal and apples to work. I add the milk once there and microwave for two minutes. I add the apples to the oatmeal and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes longer. Be sure to use a big enough container so that the oatmeal doesn't overflow.
You can also make the oatmeal in a pot and cover overnight. Add the milk the next morning and cook on stove. Add the apples part way through.
