I like steady state cardio for weight loss because its so easy and you dont get injured. Im specifically referring to elliptical and stationary bike. And you can just watch a movie or listen to music and still have a great calorie burn rate. I do 90 min elliptical and 30 min bike and i feel great and burn an *kitten* ton of calories. When you operate below your anaerobic threshold doing a low impact excercise you can just keep going. Its pretty awesome

I agree with the ease and consistency of steady state cardio. For me, I do this so that I can eat what I want. 500 calls burned is 500 calls subtracted off my total daily caloric intake.

I like steady state also but after losing 90+ pounds over about 3 years, I was stuck and unable to lose those last pesky pounds. I started walking .10 mile at 4 MPH, then bumping it up to 4.2 MPH for .10 and repeat over and over. I started losing again and people started noticing. Changing it up really has helped me.
