Veggie drinks

Are you using a juicer or a blender?0

I have recently started juicing, and I had an aversion to the taste of vegetables as a whole. There are options to kill the 'earthy' and bitter flavor while still getting the nutrition. Use fruits to sweeten the juice such as green apples, lemon, or whatever you like. Lemons and limes for me do a great job.
I am a firm believer in juicing and the benefits of it since I wouldn't otherwise get the nutrition that veggies offer.0 -
You will have to do some experimenting with veggies you like. It took me quite a few tries, but I finally found one that I like. It sounds nasty, but it basically turns out to be a soup (very similar to a broccoli soup of Gordon Ramsays on youtube).
1C Green beans
1C Broccoli
1C Cauliflower
1C Almond Milk
1C No Salt Chicken Broth
1/4C salsa
2 - 3 slices cheese
1tsp Turmeric
1tsp Cumin
1tsp Hot curry powder
Pepper
I blend it all up in the vitamix and split it up into daily quantities. I like mine heated.
I have added in Spinach too, but by the time you get enough for it to make a difference in the macro counts it tends to take over the taste of the drink or soup.0 -

^^^^^^^^WOW^^^^^^^^ Why didn't I think of this? I will definitely be making "soups" with my blender now too. That is fantastic and a great way to get veggies that are a little more "tasty". I love soup!
To answer OP's question...
I believe you can eventually find a way to prepare a smoothie that you like that does incorporate veggies. I think to *begin* you may need to first take some baby steps and acquire yourself a taste for these green drinks first. I find the least offensive leafy green to be spinach because it blends up the smoothest and has the least overwhelming flavor. If you just start with spinach, say...2 handfuls...and then add a couple servings of fruits you like that are sweet and blend up well (berries, banana, mango, apple, orange) and then add a cup of either skim milk, almond or soy milk or even just ice cold water...you'll find it is more palatable. And if you start with some fruitier ones that have at least a couple handfuls of spinach...this is pretty darn healthy and then you can start broadening your palate from there. Really, skies the limit. I like the soup idea! That way you can heat it up a little (stay below I think 110 degrees and you'll still be eating "raw") and the taste of veggies won't appall as much perhaps. Additionally, if the sweetness factor isn't sweet enough...add stevia!
Brad805...seriously, why didn't *I* think of that?!0 -

a green smoothie with avocado spinach yogurt0

I just add spinach to my regular blender, with frozen bananas and berries or whatever else you like.0

I'm using a blender.
Thanks Brad805, I'll try the soup thing- may work out better than the smoothie thing. My issue being the only vegetables I LIKE are peas and corn, haha. The rest I attempt to tolerate =/
Spresto2: the only thing is I eat quite enough fruit, and enjoy it immensely. I don't really want to be drinking it aswell. But as you pointed out, anything is better than nothing!0 -
Honestly, just add some spinach to your favorite smoothie and you're good to go.0

I use a MagicBullet (not advertising here).
I put brocoli and baby leaves spinach in my berry smoothies
½ cup brocoli
1 cup spinach
1 cup raspberry
1 cup plain yogurt
½ cup almond milk
1 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein
To be quite honest, I don't really like the color, but it has the consistency and the flavor of a raspberry frozen yogurt0 -
There's also this one I like :
1 cup mango chunks
1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup baby spinach leaves
1 tbsp natural peanut butter
1 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein0
