Wanna start taking BCAAs to help preserve my muscle while trying to 'cut'. Researched brands but there's so many different opinions and u can never be sure if they're biased reviews. Just wondered if someone can give a genuine recommendation for one that works.

I've tried two so far.. Bulk Suppliments 2:1:1.. pretty much unflavored but tastes like ground up old tires lol.. I managed to use the whole bag and it worked well but you're going to have to put it in something that has a strong flavor to stomach it.

I switched to MuscleTech Pro Series Myobuild 4X about two months ago and love it. The flavor is strong enough you can mix it as instructed or if you need additional water you can water it down a bit more. It's cheap at my local Wal-Mart for about $20 a can. I've looked at others but this one has been the cheapest and best flavor I've found (tart cherry flavor) and I believe it's a 4:1:1 mix. I do fasting cardio in the mornings so I start with a pre-workout which has creatine in it, then mid-way through I start on the Myobuild and continue drinking it throughout the rest of my workout. I usually have some left at the end of my workout so I just water it down a bit more and take it with me to work to finish it.

I have used PMD BCAA for 18 months. Best overall taste. I have tried three other brands, always come back to PMD. More expensive than muscle tech for sure, but way better taste. Most of the BCAA's taste like chemicals to me, this doesn't.

As far as does it work, it's a 2:1:1, and the quality is good. I question any BCAA's effectiveness at preserving muscle - I don't know for sure that any of them really do what they claim (but I still use one. I believe it helps me, and I like the taste). It is good for hydration (much better to me than just water), and actual soreness post workout seems to be a little less.

I use Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy. It has 5g of amino acids and 160mg of caffeine from natural sources per serving. They have a lot of flavors. I have tried three and have liked them all. Blue Raspberry has been my favorite so far. I drink mine during my workout. I have seen a decrease in recovery time since using the product. I have read numerous studies that amino acids in raw form are more affective then from a protein source. Such as meat or whey protein.
