Hello all.. new guy. So on 5/17 I signed up @ 269 pounds. 65 yr old man. So the calculator tells me 1760 calories per day to lose 1.5 per week. Is that safe... so confused over BMR and TDEE I have stayed around 1700 per day and not gone over. Lost 5 pounds as of today... one week later. Thanks Ekim

It's safe.
The calorie calculators are based on averages. Your average weight loss may differ from the 1.5 lbs/week. If after a month of tracking, you find that you are losing an average of more than 1.5 lbs/wk, add some calories to your day. If after a month, you find that you are losing less than 1 lb/week, you may want to adjust a little bit downwards in your daily calories.
However, it's always best to lose slowly and sustainably. Too fast leads to being very hungry and eventually giving up. You're looking for a sustainable plan.
Welcome! You can do this.2 -
Wow, that was fast! Thanks so much.. Ekim0

It's common in the first weeks to lose faster as you lose a lot of water weight. Keep to what you're doing and adjust if it doesn't slow down after 2-3 more weeks.1

Hey.... 30 day mark and down 9 pounds... that is a tad over 2 pounds per week!! I'm stoked and so eager to see 259 to appear on my nice new digital scale. This has not been hard at all.. just logging and weighing my food and staying a hair below my 1760 threshold... I'll be a hunk again in no time..6
