Hi, my name is Amanda. I want to get back to 140lbs. I am a mom but the wait came when I started college. I never was a health nut but I have always wanted to be. I am a smoker and pop is my weakness. I would like to get off the caffeine before my semester begins and I would like to lose weight for many reasons but one is to save money; I can't afford to buy new close everytime I put on a couple of inches. My start off weight is 178. 3 lbs. Write now I am keeping track of how many calories I am taking in. The end of my week is Thursday.

    Hello, My name is Mary. I've been a yo-yo dieter for many years, on and off the wagon over and over again. My friend, Karen, told me the other day about this website and I'm very excited to begin this journey. I'm up 13 lbs from the fall and I'm anxious to get ready for summer. I'm currently 158 lbs and my goal is 145 lbs. I'm 5'6 so being in the 140 range is perfect my my body frame and height. I always believed that I wasn't eating much until I began to journal. This program made me realized how much I was eating "Caloriewise" and I'm now becoming accountable for what I put in my mouth.

    Hi Amanda!

    Whelp, the secret to getting off the soda is willpower. Start carrying a bottle of water and ask yourself " Is this soda really worth it?". After a while soda will become a distant memory that is a once in a while treat. I wish I could tell you there was some magical trick to stop drinking it, but the only way is to actually stop drinking it. After a while, I found for myself that actually being conscious about what you are putting in your body, really thinking about it, helped me stop drinking soda.

    Well, one trick is to not bring any soda into your house. Because if it is there you will drink it!

    Soda is very addicting and I suffer a caffeine hang over every morning. I thought it was just me having anxiety and depression,but I realize that it's because of the caffeine. I tried to get off the pop a few months ago and suffered a really bad break down and was contemplating dropping out of school. I went home and drank a couple cups of coffee and found that I was suffering caffeine withdrawal. It's summer and I have decided that I want to be off all pops and sodas before I start back in August. I have a doctors appointment in a few days and I am defiantly talking to her about this. It is a scary thing to go through and I know I have to do so thing about this.

    I, too, use to be addicted to Diet Coke but after having gastro problems, my doctor advised me to get off of it. The beginning is so hard but you will get over the hump and will begin to feel healthier. It's been 5 years since I had soda and I really don't miss it. The first 3-4 days were really hard. I sort of felt like a "junkie" from the withdrawal. I normally just drink water, milk or juice. I really like making homemade iced tea "herbal" from mixes I get from Teavana.

    Tonight I have to re- evaluate my goals. Which I plan to do once a week. Tomorrow is my way in day although I haven't started my diet officially. I plan to exchange pop for black coffee and the sweets with fruit temporarily. I have been getting more exercise since I have gotten a new puppy for my daughter. My motivation is pet therapy. Puppy needs exercise and I do too. With the caffeine I only plan to drink one cup a coffee a day which would be about have the caffeine I get from Mountain Dew; then switch over to tea. I want to be done with caffeine within two weeks. I really would like to quit smoking, which I am going to talk to my doc about in a few days. I tried the patch but it doesn't work. I would love to quit turkey. My daughters last day of school is tomorrow which will be less responsibility for me and so I can start doing what I am suppoed to be doing. Less excuses.

    Sounds like you have a good plan Amanda. I use to have a Bichon Frise, sweet dog! Miss him :( Anyways, puppies (like children) keep you moving which will help with your weight loss goal. Two more weeks until summer vacation up North, can't wait!

    I got my daughter a Australian Shepard lab mix and she is full of energy. She is helping me be active. Between school and winter blues she has helped me get out of the mess and stay focus. Because of this I have found myself to have more energy to play with my six year old daughter.

    I definitely second using iced tea to curb your pop craving. Of course I am talking about water, Ice, and a tea bag (I use raspberry or a peach tea) not store bought sweetened versions.

    I had a huge pop/slurpee addiction and its been 5 weeks without and I don't find myself craving it.

    Finally off that Mountain Dew!!!!! Free at last. After drinking so much water the taste of it is way to sweet. I can't believe how much I actually love water. I believe the water made me hate the sweet taste of Mountain Dew.:)

    If you just eat your recommended amount of calories you will lose weight. I log everything I eat and drink. It helps me see where I am going wrong. I had stopped drinking soda on a regular basis 20 years ago. now if I have one once a month that a lot. I had replaced it with water or seltzer and got into working out and I would think that I am putting how much sugar into my body?? To think about and see how much sugar it is, is crazy. It worked for me. You will need to stay positive. If you have someone near by to call upon when you have the craving or just go for a walk. Best of luck!

    Just want you to know that I am officially off the pop. I have drank water like it's going out of style and it's helped me to hate sweets. I was surprised the first few days, because I didn't think it possible. I have been drinking black coffee instead. OMG! I am on my way :).
