Advice please. Proportions of Carbs, Fat and Protein.

Please help! Does anyone have any thoughts on the correct proportion of carbs, fat and protein? The default setting seems to be 40% carbohydrate, 30% fat and 30% protein. I eat loads of very low fat protein like milk, tofu and lean chicken, so my protein percentage is always higher than my fat percentage. Should I worry? Should I adjust the values?

The values set on MFP are based on RDA minimums. No need to worry if you go over them.

Your diary is closed so I can't take a look and see what you've got going on, but I look at it like this:

Protein and fat goals are minimums for me. I don't worry about going over either of them.
Carbs are the remainder of my calories, so I try to keep them under the goal or up to.

No matter the macro split, if you are keeping total calories under your goal, you should lose.

Macros don't matter all that much for weight loss, where they really come into play is for body recomposition. Keeping protein high while integrating any kind of resistance training will help you maintain the lean mass that you currently have. There will always be some lean mass lost during any weight loss journey, but keeping it to a minimum will help ensure that, once you reach your goal, you will have a body composition more in line with what your goals are liable to be.

That said, not really knowing your goals, you might not be worried about maintaining lean mass... but for my goals, I find it easier to maintain what I have rather than trying to add more later. It's much easier to maintain the lean mass than it is to build/grow it later.

Thanks that's very helpful. I can't publish my goals. This app won't let me.
