Grapenuts Cereal

On a box of Grapenuts Cereal (original), the nutritional information includes the values for both 1/2 c. of cereal and for 1/2 c. of cereal and 1/2 c. skim milk. The values are side-by-side. However, for protein it gives one number - 6 g. Is that 6 g. value for the cereal alone or for the cereal and milk? It is either the cereal and milk together have 6 g. of protein OR it is the cereal alone which means I get to count the additonal 4 g. of protein from my milk.
I hate to ask such a simple question, but I struggle with my proteins and every little bit helps.

That must be for just the cereal. I would count the cereal and your milk seperately.
On the subject, you should try mixing your grape nuts with yogurt. I love the crunchy with the creamy.0 -
If you're talking about this label,
http://www.postcereals.com/cereals/grape-nuts/#nutrition
It makes absolutely no sense. They don't have different values for anything, just a different daily % value.
e.g.
Sodium = 260mg. Without milk it's 12% but with milk it's 15% ????? I'm sorry, but WTF. 260 mg is 260 mg. It doesn't change the % of a 2000 cal day because we have milk.
IMHO, that 6g of proteing is for the cereal.
Look at the sugar too, there's more sugar than that in half a cup of milk alone.
I think those values are for the cereal only. I'd also suggest ignoring the "milk" component on a cereal box and use the milk values from the milk container. Enter them as 2 seperate values.
Also, if you struggle to get your proteins. Ever consider a protein supplement ?
You can/could take the ON 100% Whey Protein that is good for pre/post workouts (or just in general) to get 24g of protein.
Or, if you're not so much into work outs etc. Try the ON 100% Casein Protein. (or both) It's supposedly a slow release protein. You take it at night about 30-60 minutes before bed (again 24g of protein, 120 cals, 1g fat, 3g carbs, 0 sugar and 260 sodium). It helps with the late night munchies and is supposed to provide your body with a continuous source of nutrition overnight. It also tastes like choclate pudding (to me anyway) so it's like having a dessert. I take this, and since doing so, I no longer go to bed, wake in in the middle of the night or wake up in the morning starving hungry. I actually wake up feeling pretty good. Not sure if that is an actual side effect of taking this, but I definately feel better in the morning. (probably because my stomach isn't rumbling at night).
[EDIT: Look at the * part of the label, it explains the milk portion and the daily%, plus how much protein/sugar etc to add]0
