How does everyone manage their cravings, temptations and making bad choices?
I have all the intentions of eating good foods but occasionally tempts me...

I don't deprive myself of the foods I want to eat. That's how.0

I eat plenty of nutritious whole food. I also eat pizza, ice cream, steak, and I enjoy a little wine. I make room in my daily calories for these things and don't go over. I don't feel deprived, and my cravings are satisfied while I'm losing weight and gaining overall better health.
Whatever you're doing, don't you think it needs to be sustainable for the long term?0 -
I try to remember that "going on a diet" is a load of bunk. The word diet refers to what you eat in the day to day. A diabetic diet is quite different from a restricted sodium diet but both are for the rest of your life things.
I'm not going to lose weight and keep it off by depriving myself of my favorite foods. I'm changing my diet to a new and improved one that includes healthier choices and better portion control, but you'll pry the ice cream and pizza out of my cold dead fingers.
Just remember to exercise portion control. When you deny yourself for too long saying, oh I can never eat such and such a thing again, when you finally cave you'll over do it. At that point you've convinced yourself that the treat is a scarce commodity.
tl:dr You aren't ON a diet. You're CHANGING your diet. You have to live with it for forever and ever and ever (reading that I realize that I really need some coffee) so ask yourself if you can life the rest of your life without eating something you love, or if you just need to find a way to fit it into your diet in a healthy way.2 -
There are no good foods or bad foods.
Food is food.
Occassionaly food does tempt us to go over our calories.
We can choose to have a small portion of that food or work it out so that we can fit it into the plan another day.0 -
I do my own food shopping, so don't buy foods I don't want to eat. If then I'm ever tempted by junk food I have to go out and buy it, so by the time I've thought about it I decide to eat something healthy I already have in the home.
I very rarely get tempted or have cravings for junk foods as I'm enjoying my eating plan and don't miss anything.1
