I have a real problem staying motivated. So far it has been mind over matter. I don't like feeling hungry. I can't afford a lot of the healthier foods because of income. Is there an herb or something I could take that would help with appetite control.

You're not supposed to feel hungry enough to bother mentioning it. Set your goal to lose no more than 1% of your weight per week, and aim to eat those calorie every day. Have some food from each food group every day. Don't buy "diet" or "health" food, just ordinary food, and they are mostly cheap - things like pasta, potatoes, oatmeal, milk and butter, cheese and yogurt, apples, bananas and oranges, tuna and chicken, eggs, bread, ground beef, onions, carrots, frozen vegetables and berries, rice, beans. Yes, I'm suggesting you do a lot of your own cooking. And yes, you may have to go out of your comfort zone a bit. But you're not supposed to suffer.
Don't waste your precious money on stupid herbs, pills, shakes or teas. Eat good food instead, food you like, just a little less than before, and you will lose weight, improve your health, and feel a lot better.0 -
The above poster hit the nail on the head. You don't have to do a lot of diet foods to lose weight. A good kitchen scale to weigh everything and measuring cups and spoons. Log your meals and stick with your calories and you will lose.
The best appetite reducer for me is protien. Don't get me wrong I love me some carbs. I eat pizza, chips, fries, and ice cream. I wont give up my chocolate. It's learning the numbers game. The only sure way to lose is to burn more calories than you eat. Those quick fix things will just mostly remove water and you will gain it back.0 -
So true prices at health food shops are nearly twice the price of a supermarket. You just have to shop around the perimeter of the supermarket where all the fresh food is and avoid the middle isles with all the jars and packets of stuff with unidentifiable ingredients in them. Try drinking a glass of water when you feel hungry as sometimes it is thirst not hunger. Watch your portions and move more and you will loose weight. Good luck.0
