Understanding calorie goals

ciao a tutti! Let me start off by saying that having"myfitnesspal" has really helped jump start my wight loss goal. I have been using the mobile app for about 4 weeks now and logged on using my computer for the first time today. I am now confused because of the extra information given online that was not on the app (that I am aware of). For instance, my weight loss goal is 2 lbs a week and exercising 6 days a week for 20 minutes a day. I burn around 300 calories doing elliptical training everyday. This adds up to about 1800 calories in a week. My personal fitness goals that is tabulated by "myfitnesspal" says I should only be burning 800 calories a week. HuH?!? Am I doing too much cardio?! It's only 20 minutes?! I'm confused as to how I can loose weight if I am barely exercising. Is just meeting my calorie intake goal enough? That contradicts everything I have ever know. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and avere una buona giornata!

The way I understand it, it's not that you should "only" be burning 800 calories a week, but "at least" 800 calories a week in order to reach your goal.0
