Hello,
I have been using MFP for several years and I love to do high intensity interval training and weight lifting. I do not like running but I will get on the elliptical and do intervals for 20 minutes to an hour.

I have always been in really good shape and able to bounce back after my pregnancies fairly quickly. Working out helps me to feel my best for sure.

However, over the past year I have been dealing with some extremely stressful situations and have been having chronic migraines for two years. I am on a preventative medication for the migraines and they are manageable now. But the body aches and pains are keeping me from working out and as a result I feel down and depressed. Working out made me feel so happy and energized. The pain I am feeling is pretty bad. Just lying in bed or sitting in the car hurts. My hips and thighs constantly ache and hurt. Feels like a deep muscle pain and like knives are stabbing me. My shoulders and back also ache. Sometimes my chest bone hurts too.

I have mentioned this to my doctor but she just shrugged it off. My insurance has assigned me to one doctor so if this clinic doesnt take me seriously then I am not going to get much help. I dont want to take medication for it, Id rather get to the root of the problem so I can feel halfway decent and function normally.

I just really need some motivation to workout again and is there anything that I can do to make this better? Will working out help me hurt less are there things that I should avoid?

I dont want to feel discouraged anymore or feel like my fitness days are over with. :( This just makes me so sad and angry, I dont know how or why this happened but I know I cannot be the only one and there has to be something I can do to get my life back.

Any help, advice, encouragement is appreciated.

Are you asking if you do have fibromyalgia? It's a possibility. But being diagnosed with fibro means going through numerous tests to rule out other things, and also checking some tender spots on the body.

I have fibro, and have found that I will have muscle pains, and also skin pains. Sometimes I want to rip my hair out because it hurts my head!

The best thing that's helped me - is CONSISTENTLY working out. My doctor told me 'either work out, or don't.' After that initial pain-filled few days, I haven't had to deal with the pain so much!

You may want to also get some blood work done, a full panel, to check some things that may be making you in pain as well.

I think I have fibromyalgia but I haven't been diagnosed yet. Im not asking if I do, Im wondering what kind of work outs are best for those who do or what to expect when I start working out again..

Thanks for your imput, that is really good to know that working out consistently doesnt hurt you so much. I would rather work out than not. I just dont want to be in so much pain that I cannot work or do my job at home.

My other problem is getting my one dr who's been assigned to me by my insurance to actually listen to me. He shrugs off my complaints and doesnt take me seriously because I look healthly and have a normal bmi. I just need to be active. It's a huge part of who I am. It's making me feel so depressed.
