Question about walking

Options
Hi everyone.. I'm back to MFP after a few year hiatus and am starting over again. Needless to say, I am overweight and have chosen walking to start with. I have a question about walking that I looked up before and have not found a good answer on. When I am done walking and sit for a minute, I can feel like a popping in the large muscles of my legs and thighs. It doesn't hurt, It actually feels pretty good. Just wondering if anyone knows what that popping means? Thank You!

Dunno-- but one of the most common things that happens when you walk is that lactic acid builds up in your muscles. People usually describe the sensation as tightening, cramping, or burning. . but but maybe you're just feeling and experiencing it in a different way?

Sounds like it might be muscle fibers just beneath the skin tensing and flexing separately from the main mass. How are your electrolyte levels?

Thanks for the replies. Electrolytes seem to be okay. Haven't had them checked since probably late last year but they always come back within normal limits.. Found a little more info online about lactic acid buildup and it leaving the muscle.

Make sure you are hydrating enough! That's huge with muscles being worked and sweating:)
