Calories burned hiking?

So I hiked 7.5 miles today in 3 and a half hours. I'm 5'10 and weigh about 145 pounds. About half of the hike was uphill and half downhill. The calculators I've used say I burned anywhere from 400-600 calories, but, although I'm pretty sore and tired, I just don't feel like that's right. I decided to log it as walking for 2 hours because 300 calories sounded more accurate, but what do you guys think?

You low-balled it. Depending on the duration of time you were walking uphill, the grade of the uphill walk, and any load you were carrying, you could indeed have burned 600.

The best calculator that I've found for hiking calories is www.hikingscience.blogspot.com. You put in your weight, distance, elevation gain and it gives you a pretty accurate burn.
