$17 HRM?

I subscribe to many of the "deal" websites, and saw this one today. There aren't any reviews on it, or a specific name brand, but for $17 (shipping included) it almost seems worth the risk. Anyone else have a "generic" HRM that does the trick, or would you recommend spending more for a name brand with reviews? (I HAVE purchased from Eversave before and do trust them as a deal site).

$17 for a heart rate monitor watch in blue, red, or silver — shipping included!

Given the lack of information about the product on the web site it's hard to say whether it's worth buying but I'm a firm believer that there's more to value than a low price.

Does it come with a chest strap? If not it's pretty much useless.

Just my opinion but I expect you'd be far better off with an entry level HRM like a Polar FT4 which is around $60 on amazon.

Definitely should make sure it has a chest strap. If so, why not try it for $17, although I agree that the $60 Polar FT4 is a great value.
  • I use the Polar FT4 and it's amazing. If you really want an accurate count, go for something with a chest strap instead of wasting money and ending up buying a different model later.

I have a Polar FT4. I HIGHLY recommend it! I did get a cheap one from Wal*Mart before getting my Polar and it was a waste of money. It was just a watch HRM and it was VERY inaccurate. I researched HRMs on Amazon and decided for my requirements the Polar FT4 was just what I needed! I have had my Polar for 2 years now with NO problems at all! I love it! As a matter of fact, I just ordered a replacement chest strap since I had lost the original one in my move.
