Hey everyone

So this may be a pretty dumb question. But you know how it's advised to eat little and often (around every 3 hrs to keep your metabolism up) is it ok to eat more often than this as long as you're sticking your calories? I have a history of under eating and rapid weight loss that resulted in my gaining back pretty much all the weight I had Lost whilst i went travelling for 10 weeks. There are times when I suddenly realise I haven't eaten enough (counting in what I am planning for a late afternoon snack and dinner) so is it ok to have lunch then a couple of snacks within a couple of hours? As long as I'm sticking to my calorie goal for the day?

I eat every two to three hours. Thankfully I have a job where I can do this. :P

The bottom line is you need to figure out what works for you. Snacking all day doesn't work for some. There are even some people on this site who only eat once a day (all their calories in one go), and their weight loss hasn't been hindered. So try it out for a week or so, and if it doesn't work, try something else.

I think the small meals is more to keep from getting the highs and lows in your blood sugar.

I have tried the small meals throughout the day (I am doing a variation of that now) and the issue I ran into was it was a PITA to have to pack allllll the food for my entire day when I worked in an office. Then I was hungry all. the. time which made going out any where a PITA because I had to bring snacks with me.

Also, even though I was eating small meals -- only a couple hundred calories each meal -- and exercising I found myself gaining weight.

Right now I try to eat when I'm hungry or when I am starting to get hungry which has been working out to maybe 4-5 meals during the week.

ETA: Try it and see if it can work for you.
