I've only been working out a week, already lost 4.5 lbs, pretty sure it's water weight, but still proud of myself.

I just did my measurements and all over I've got a about a .25" loss all over, except my chest.

Last week it measured 44" this week it's 41.5" that's a lost of 2.5", that's not possible, right? I must of measured wrong last week, right? I've triple checked it today and it's defiantly 41.5"

I don't know. Maybe you did. Every time I've ever set out to lose weight the first place it (and inches) come off is around my waist/belly. It comes off pretty fast there for me, so for you it could be possible on your chest.

But...you could've measured wrong too. I do that a lot if the tape isn't in the exact same spot or it's a little tighter/looser. Just keep track of it and you'll see a gradual downward trend the same as scale weight.

    Yep, it's probably right.

Had a friend on here who lost 5 lbs and 10 in (or vice versa. either way, impressive.)

    The recomposition is real.

What happens in a week is irrelevant. All that matters is what happens over time - 6 weeks, 6 months, 6 years.

Is it possible that your chest may have been increased last week due to hormones/TOM? I think some ppl get that don't they?

I would focus on tracking this in long term to get an accurate picture. Glycogen and water (as you recognise) can play a part. My measurements are different before and after a carb load. Good luck on your journey

nothing is going to be 100% accurate regardless of price etc, like you said hydration level will affect it

but as a simple indication, it is better than nothing

the one I have, can't remember the make, wasn't that expensive, allows you to enter you sex and height, for everyone that has been using it, the results have been similar to the previous day etc

i.e. I weight myself first thing in the morning after going to the toilet, naked to make sure, the results are always similar to the previous day

    Monday
    200.8 lbs
    fat 35.4
    water 48.3
    bmi 35

    Tuesday
    199.2 lbs
    fat 34.6
    water 48.6
    bmi 30.2

    Wednesday
    200.2 lbs
    fat 35
    water 48.3
    bmi 30.4

Thursday ( was in bed most of the day Wednesday)
    198.6 lbs
    fat 34.2
    water 48.8
    bmi 30.1
