The never-ending goal weight

Does anyone else find the more weight they lose the more they want to lose
My goal was 220 pounds and that was my goal because I wanted to not have a bmi above 30
Then I got to 210 and said well maybe another 10 pounds and I'll be squarely on 200
Then I said well I've never been below 200 that would be great as my goal weight
Then I said well I'm still overweight according to bmi I should get down to 180
And then I said nothing because I've never been to 180 because when I got down to 190 previously I yo-Yoed up to 230
Now I decided to have short term goals and long term goals, right now I'm 205-210 pounds and my short term goal is to just get to 200 or just below and my long term goal is 180, but that might change if I ever get to 180 because sometimes I think I should weigh 170 and other times I set my goal as low as 155, I guess it's a cycle

For me anyway once the weight starts going it goes quickly and keeps going which is why I don't want to stop. When I stop it takes it ages to start moving again. For example I cut down to 1500 cals per day in January, the scales never moved until mid Feb and then I lost over 10lbs in one fell swoop and its been constant since.0

I haven't changed my long term goal of 9 stone (126lb), but I have set myself mini goals along the way to keep it interesting. I started at 14 stone 4lb, so my first goal was to break the 14 stone barrier. After that I was looking towards 13 stone 4lb - 1 stone gone! And that's continued all the way along. I love breaking the next stone barrier and seeing a new number at the start of the scale.
That's a definite upside of the U.K. way of weighing, breaking it up into stone makes every 14 lb a fun victory - even when I went from 10 stone 0.5lb down to 9 stone 13.75lb, seeing that 9 was a great feeling!
My next milestone is 9 stone 4lb (8lb to go) because I'll have lost exactly 5 stone!
I suspect I'll reset my original goal of 9 stone when I get there and decide to lose a bit more, but I'll wait and see how I feel. I'll be in a healthy bmi by then, so it'll just be vanity lbs.4 -
Yes, started at 245 with goal of 230, because I felt comfortable at 230 and didn't think I could get lower. Breezed pass 230 to 220 and thought why not 205-210 as a goal. Got to 205 and though I felt great, still was soft around the mid-section, so on to 195. Still too much body fat at 195. Next goal 190, then 185. At 185 now with plans to cut down to 180-182 with body fat % of 15%.1

My goal weight has changed during the process. I always based mine on BMI but now that Im 20 pounds away Im looking a little too thin on my top half so I check every 5 pounds to see if I look and feel healthy.1

Set little baby goals. I started at 175 and had myself a dance party at 165.
The last time I dipped below 160 I was in near total volume depletion. I'm looking forward to that one while healthy.
154 is the tipping point for my BMI to enter the healthy range.
150 is my old high school weight.
145 is a number I hit ONCE in high school when my anti depressant made me manic (I felt so sexy!)
140 is a nice round number and my current basement goal.
Every 5 pounds I plan to take progress pictures. I've discovered that what I see and what the camera sees are often two different things, so once I get below 154 to earn my insurance discount (perks of working for a hospital) I plan to let the camera tell me if my pounds are pure vanity or actually affecting my looks.
Little goals give you all the opportunities to celebrate your successes and give yourself endless encouragement to keep going. Find out what the top end of your healthy BMI is, and set that as your basement goal for now. The nice thing is that you can always change your goals.0 -
That's me...I'm on round 3 of "those last 10 lb" because my goal keeps moving. I started at 195 with a goal of 150. When I got to 150, my belly was still there so I thought, let's try 140. At 140 now and my new goal is 130 to get rid of the belly fat. If needed, I'll go to 125 but that'll be it since I'll be at the bottom of my healthy BMI range. I'll do a recomp if needed to get rid of any leftover fat.0

I haven't really changed my goals. My first goal is to no longer be overweight. The final goal is to be around the middle of the healthy weight range.0

What I find helps is to have a long term end goal (for you 180lbs) and then "milestones" along the way to keep motivated. These can be weight, measurements or quantitative (like buying smaller size clothes).0

I did change my weight goal along the way. Initially it was pre pregnancy weight, which was 175 but I knew that wouldn't be a final weight. Then it was 140 only because I weighed that in college and remember feeling good there. Then I changed it to 137 because that was the top of a healthy bmi. Then I got to 137 and thought I could still stand to lose more fat so decided to take off ten more pounds. Now I'm maintaining at 125 and I'm focused on fitness related goals.1

Only advice I would give is go on how you feel, I didn't feel good being 180lbs for me I was always cold... didn't like wearing a small either... I also got allot of F'ed up comments when I got that low which really bothered me.0
