Hi I am hoping someone can give me some insight. I started a month ago and had a 24 pound loss in 23 days. The last week I have lost nothing. I seem to be up 2 to 3 pounds this week. I had a rough weekend last weekend and had two pieces of cake at two bday parties but other than that and Tom a week ago nothing else changed.....thoughts? I lost 5 inches on my waist in the first 3 weeks but nothing since.
Oh I cut out refined carbs and potatoes...still eat fruit.
I know it's a big loss for me just scared as I have 100 pounds to loose so thought things should be moving down...diary is open to friends maybe everyone not sure...

I joined a pool and am loosing about 2lb-3lbs week swimming laps. It's a great exercise and burns lots of calories. Also you need to limit your fruit. It's high in carbs.0

Just keep up the hard work you're going do it!0

so, in 4 weeks you've lost 21 lbs, and you think something is wrong?
Your diary does not seem to be open, but women have hormone cycles that can make weight loss a roller coaster, even if the overall trend is downward it can be hard to have the patience.
How many calories are you eating per day? Do you weigh your food on a digital food scale? Are you "eating back" exercise calories you log?0 -

TOM accounts for what looks like a gain this week but well done on your loss so far, you're making excellent progress.0

When you first start to diet you eat less, so you have less food in your body and gastrointestinal tract = scale weight loss
When you cut carbs significantly you strip your body of gylcogen and associated water weight = scale weight loss
When you eat carbs at a normal level / or in excess that gylcogen and water weight immediately come back = scale weight gain
when you eat at a consistent defecit over time you lose scale weight which is made up of fat, LBM and water weight - the trick is to do it slow and steady - 1-2lbs a week to maximise fat loss / minimise LBM loss and to hit sustainability long term
Weight loss is not linear - water weight masks a lot - carbs / sodium / change-up in exercise / hormones around ovulation and menstruation can all increase / decrease the scale weight
judge over rolling 6- 8 week periods
and just keep eating at a defecit over time and moving more
if you can do some progressive resistance work add that in - you'll thank me when everything gets tight and uplifted and your fat loss begins to show your muscles - to your aesthetic ideal3 -

24 lbs in 23 is HUGE! Depending on how much you have to lose, it may have actually been too much too fast.I joined a pool and am loosing about 2lb-3lbs week swimming laps. It's a great exercise and burns lots of calories. Also you need to limit your fruit. It's high in carbs.
No. Nothing wrong with carbs or fruit.

I was very happy with the loss...I didn't expect a high loss. I was concerned that it appeared to stop. I don't expect to loose 100 pounds in three months. I initially had 1650 for calories when I started but with the loss that dropped my calories to 1550. Just was concerned of an uphill trend in the last week....wanted to be on top of it.0 -

Thanks I will watch the fruit. I have started some resistence exercises in the pool. The initial weight was a lot of water as my ankle swelling that I've had for years is gone!!. I was aiming for 2 pounds a week and that is what I put my goal in for. I ate lots I think going from eating a lot of flour and sugar to not resulted in tje fast lost. The majority of my 24 pound loss was in first 2.5 weeks. Thanks for the info.
Yes I use a food scale for everything!0 -
This chart has good advice:
Thanks!!! Great chart. I started eating some exercise calories back that were logged from mfp....I will try cutting that back to 25 percent.
Thanks all for the help!!!.
If I came across as "why didn't I loose 50 pounds this month bla bla" that was not my intention. I'm thrilled with loss and happy with 1 to 2 pound loss just thought I needed to tweak something and couldn't figure it out. Didn't want to put on what I lost.0
