Starving after donating blood... what the heck?

I donated blood today (I am a regular donor) but for some reason am just STARVING now! I'm not sure why... I have eaten fairly well. Have any of you had this happen? Maybe I just didn't notice it before as I was not logging what I ate at the time.... hmmm???
