Jump Roping and hula hooping

Has anyone found success with these two forms of exercise helpful for toning? Also I have a little "momma" pouch under my belly button....I wonder if it will go down as I shed the pounds or is there something more I can do, I know it will never be as flat as before kids. Thanks in advance for any comments or assistance!

I'm not coordinated, so jump roping and hula hooping is not my forte: I lift. That said: you may be pleasantly surprised with the changes that your body will take as you lose weight!! I have had 3 children and my mom "pooch" is non-existent. Of course this depends on weight loss, time, genetics, body composition, and skin elasticity..but what I'm saying is keep working towards those goals!!

Hula hooping is just not something I have very much finesse with. Its funny because hula hooping is also like belly dancing and I just look funny trying to do either.. My husband hula hoops on the WII and is great at it..

Now if you want to burn some calories, jump roping will do it. Muscle toning not in my opinion, some but not enough to where strength training is where you will get that.

I would assume jump rope and hula hoop would maybe be the same as high intensity interval cardio. Not really the same as strength training, but more like doing very short sprints.

thank you everyone for the input, I really appreciate it! I am just going to keep plugging away and shedding the pounds, attempting cardio for 30 minutes a day and see what happens to my body! What an adventure

When I was hula - hooping consistantly (about 20 minutes a day while watching TV) my belly "felt" firmer but didn't appear any different.
