Hello all! I am looking for a meal plan or diet plan to follow. I am looking to teach myself what is healthy and ok and what is not. I am just getting back into the swing of things. Hoping I can get some guidance. Thank you:)

It's a little difficult to suggest you a meal plan, even if it were a good idea. What works for me may not work for you. Do you have any food allergies? Likes and dislikes? Would you get bored eating the same thing every day? Do you think a protein bar is a good breakfast?
Honestly, there's no reason to follow some set plan if you're using MFP because you're counting calories. There are a lot of reasons to not follow a set plan (boredom being one!). Which foods you choose to eat to comprise your daily calories is of little importance so long as you're meeting your goal. There really aren't any foods that are not "okay". Throw out the idea that you need to eat "healthy" to lose weight; you do not. You could lose weight eating nothing but Twinkies if you wanted. You wouldn't feel very well but you could still lose weight. The word "healthy" is vague when it comes to food choices, in any case. What I think is healthy and what you think are healthy could be very, very different. So focus on eating less calories than you burn each day and let everything else fall into place around that concept.
Rather than expect someone else to give you a plan, which you may or may not like, work one out yourself. You know your calorie goal. You know the foods you can't eat and those you dislike so you won't include them. Use your idea of healthy and do some scouting on the internet for meal and recipe ideas and incorporate what you like. Create a rotating menu plan or eat the same thing every day; your choice. Eat at whatever times of the day make you happiest.2 -
I think i get what you are asking ... sometimes it's hard to know what and how much to eat, or how to put together a well rounded meal and looking at meal plans can be a source of information that gives kind of a road map to follow and build on.
I've looked at meal plans over the years and have found that they generally provide a week or two of food plans for the various meals so you can get the idea.
Just google 'Meal Plan for healthy living" or 'meal plan for 1600 calorie diet', or even "sample meal plans" and see what comes up. You will, I promise, get lots of links to look at. You might also look into types of eating styles to see what foods are recommened ... like the DASH or Mediterranean diet.
PS ... here is one link from the US Department of Agriculture ... under ChooseMyPlate that provides a sample 2-week menu for eating a healthy diet at modest price.

In addition, I like to check out other people's diaries for ideas. Mine's open, if you're interested.1
