Day One- Fighting Procrastination

edited December 2 in Getting Started
I have had at least 100 days of "day one" this year. Every time I start, I do well until midday or the evening. Then I always convince myself that I can start tomorrow and go about enjoying some chips or wine or whatever. I realized that procrastination is my biggest foe. So, I need to say that today matters. Each moment matters. The fist step and every step in between is as important as the last. So, I decided today to try something different. This post! I am hoping to gain some new friends to help keep me motivated and accountable.

Here's my story. I have 15 lbs to lose. I started putting on weight when I began to "treat" myself to goodies more and more frequently, and when I started enjoying a glass or two of wine with friends more often. I end up eating tons more if I have a drink. So the weight started creeping up. So, I have reached my breaking point. My clothes don't fit. My thighs rub (drives me nuts) and I just don't feel attractive anymore.
So, today, I take step one...again...but hopefully in a new path. Hopefully, others can relate and we can help each other on this journey.

My tomorrow took about 12 years to arrive. I can relate. There was always an excuse to give up. My head is in the game. I've countered every excuse I've used in the past (but we're going out, but it's a barbecue, but but but) and I don't excuse over eating anymore. 40 pounds down and counting, and I feel better than I have in years.

I finally got to that breaking point about a year ago. My 10-15 extra pounds turned into 30 before I knew it.

A couple things that helped me:
    • Logging every morsel of food every day and not fudging, then staying under my calorie goal. Most people on MFP suggest buying a food scale and USING it.
    • Making like minded friends on MFP.
    • Reading success stories on MFP. If people can lose 100+ pounds in a year and post their pictures, then for goodness sake I can lose 30!
    • Setting some exercise goals and committing to meeting them. (Walk/run a 5K, aquasize 4X a week, etc)
    • Joining some exercise challenges on MFP. There are some amazing and fun ones!
    • Realizing it was ME against ME and nobody else was going to do it for me. No more excuses!
Time to get busy getting busy! You can do this!
