Unfollow certain forum posts?

How do I get MFP to stop notifying me of some forum posts but not all?

I commented on a post that now has about 300 other comments, and I'm being inundated with notifications.

    Unclick the star in the upper right corner.

    I haven't starred it. When I comment, I get notifications whether the conversation is starred or not.

    Go to your Notifications Preferences. Do you have the option checked for "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in"? If you have that checked, I've never found a way to unfollow particular threads. You have to choose between all or nothing. If you uncheck that preference, you can start using the star to bookmark threads you want to receive notifications on.
