I had not logged any food today and yet my remaining calories decreased. My calorie goal is 1440. I worked in the yard this morning and burned 77 calories and my remaining calories showed 1363. How could that be if I have not logged food?

If you have negative calories turned on this will do it. Some people turn that on to get the most accurate reading

It's a negative calorie adjustment coming from your step calculator or activity tracker. It's actually saying that MFP believes you will burn 77 calories less than what they've calculated as your maintenance calories, so they had to adjust your intake to ensure you don't overeat. When you start moving more throughout the day, you'll see the adjustment turn positive.

That is so motivating. What kind of trackers have that feature?

It turns on from the myfitnesspal app (this one) but it occurs when calculating various fit band activities. For example, mine is the Fitbit hr

"Enabling a negative calorie adjustment from your integration with a total daily calorie partner will give you the most accurate information about your calorie expenditure for the day. A negative calorie adjustment indicates that you are using fewer calories on a given day than our original MyFitnessPal estimate.

The option for allowing negative calorie adjustments can be found by logging in to your account at www.myfitnesspal.com, then clicking "My Home" then "Settings" then "Diary settings". Check the box for "Enable Negative Adjustments" then click "Save Changes." Your settings will take effect the next time data syncs from your device."

None of them really do. It's just from MFP reading the tracker's sync and the person has negative calories on MFP enabled. My vacation brain is starting to kick in.

Hi everybody. Thanks so much. I am just starting to use MyFitnessPal again and that was really throwing me off. I use the Fitbit tracker, so I'll have to figure out how to turn off the negative calorie feature but I don't understand it or like it. Okay Annabananas I'll give that a try to turn it off

But it's better to have it enabled then you see your true TDEE on a very sedentary day...
