For all of you who have lost a large amount of weight, I am wondering if you had problems with loose skin. For a short woman who has a LOT of weight to lose, I am very nervous. Does anyone have suggestions that may help or is it just something I need to deal with?:ohwell:

I have lost 50 + and have some loose skin but I am over 60 and would probably have it anyway. I still look and feel better than I did with the extra weight. You look young and should be OK. Good luck!!

Be sure to keep hydrated and moisturize. Loose skin varies from person to person since there are many things that play apart such as age, genetics, how long you have been overweight, ect.

I have some on my lower stomach. It sucks, but I will take extra skin over extra fat!

At first i thought this would be a problem for me as ive had two csections and am a bit flabby
BUT since ive started focusing on my core and doing additional various types of crunches I do see a difference in my stomach.
I have a long way to go but i like what i see so far!

also i drink a TON of water

Nothing to worry about because you can't predict it. Keep up a good strength training program to maintain lean body mass and that will minimize the effect but that's about it.

I believe it is largely dependent on your age and the length of time you are/were overweight. at 5'4" I was 85+ pounds overweight for too many years... after getting down to 108 pounds, yes I have problem areas and these areas CAN NOT be fixed with exercise. However, I would much rather deal with the "sagging" skin than the rolls of fat.

From a health perspective I now have so much energy and my physician told me I probably added 10 years to my life... I will never go back...

I use Bliss Fat Girl Slim cream twice a day after my shower, massaging it in for 20-30 seconds. I also use body scrubs on trouble spots to increase circulation which helps regeneration. And finally I use Vitamen E oil a few times a week. It appears to be helping, if nothing else all the attention to my skin is making it healthier, and the increased circulation is very beneficial to the overall appearance.

There is something to be said for losing weight while you'r'e still young; age is a mean reality no matter your weight, but it sure is harder bouncing back at a mature age.

It's something that will either happen or it won't. Age and genetics seem to play a large part. I have a lot of loose skin (mine is pretty damaged though so it's not normal). Most of it is in places only my husband sees, so I honestly am not all that bothered. None of the people seeing me out and about in the world have any idea what I look like under my clothes. They just see a normal sized person. I'll take that over worrying about loose skin anyday. Don't spend energy worrying about a non-issue. Cross that bridge if/when you get there.
  • I am super bothered by my loose skin. I lost over 100 pounds though...and was overweight for 20 years. I had decided to do a tummy tuck last year but decided to listen to my regular doctor who said to give it a WHOLE 2 years. One year later and I do see that it is better. Not a lot but better. Maybe another year will really help? Patience is hard though...I see skin hanging off my arms and chin and legs as well...but in all honesty the skin was there before...just inflated. So how could this remotely be considered worse???

    :)

Now I am back to lose my last 34...maybe it will help the skin be less hangy? LOL

After losing 130 lbs I have very little loose skin. I think working out while losing helps, age is a factor, your genetic genes play a factor in it. Don't lose your weight fast, slow and steady. I have lost my weight in a 2.5 year span. The first photo is not even my biggest but it gives a good indication of how much loose skin I could have. I have the mama pooch still and stretch marks but I'm working on tightening up everything more hoping to have a little abs by next summer.

I lost 75 lbs when I was 25 and I had loose skin on my lower belly. I still felt better than when I was fat. Just sad that I'm doing it all over again, which can't be good for the skin, especially at 31 yrs old. I believe that eating a low calorie diet, should include lots of nutrient dense foods, can't hurt your skin right? So instead of just eating your 1200 + calories a day in processed foods or pre packaged diet foods, try to get as much nutrient dense food into your body. My skin glows when I eat a cup of kale from my garden and a cup of frozen blueberries every day. People even ask me if I bought new make up or if I've been tanning. What you eat will help.

Thanks everyone for your input. I do agree that saggy skin on a healthy body is a lot better than rolls of fat, I just figured if I could do something specific for my skin DURING my weight loss it would be better than waiting til I see a huge problem and then try to fix it

I am a 36 (almost 37) year old woman that has been 100+ lbs overweight for 15 years or so (well.... My weight started creeping up around 15 years ago) so I figured its gonna need some help

My mom is 55 and has recently reached her goal weight, she's lost over 100 lbs and she had been over weight all my life, now she's as small as I am. She has loose skin but not as bad as it could be.
