So when I exercise (I use the treadmill), I walk fast or run but I'm before I'm tired, my calfs hurt a lot which cause me to stop. Has anyone else had this and what did they do to overcome this problem.

Also I'm new here!

Thank You

Talk to someone professional in the field. My totally unqualified guess would be that stretching is going to come into it somewhere.

    Also, welcome. :)

    Are you stretching/warming up/pacing yourself/wearing proper shoes?

Lots of possible causes for calf pain. In addition to suggestions above, check to make sure you are taking in enough fluids: water, sports drinks, etc, to minimize the chance of cramps. Also, please know that calf pain in runners can become a recurring problem if not treated properly. If you try to "push through the pain" you could cause injury that slows your recovery. So adding my vote for having this checked out by a professional.

    Welcome and good luck.

I used to have recurring calf pain when I walked/ran on the treadmill. My issue, which may not be yours of course, was really tight calfs. They would get so hard, they almost felt like stone. The pain was so intense sometimes I didn't think I would be able to make it to my car.

Spoke with my trainer at the time who suggested lots of stretching (during and after). I also kept hydrated, and supplemented with potassium and then magnesium later.

A few years later and I have not had that issue in a very long time. I still do all of the above except supplement with potassium as magnesium is my sole choice now.

Note: I did speak to my dr about the cramps and asked about the potassium & magnesium too.

Are you stretching? If not, do so.

I would say make sure you stretch after wards, or your not drinking enough water, and are you eating enough potassium?
