Hi everyone,
happy to be here and be part of the community! I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my first child; and I'm trying to do my best to keep weight gain under control with moving a lot and eating healthy; to give the best to the baby:-)
So far I gained roughly 7 pounds/ 3.5kg; I guess its quite ok; but I'm afraid that the more difficult part is starting now when the weight will just sneak up on me..:-(
Any support/ advice about 2nd half weight gain and weight control would be really really welcome:-)
ps: my ob/gyn recommended to not to gain more than 18 pounds/ 9kg through the whole pregnancy...
Have a lovely day!

I haven't been the most active during my pregnancy, but I'm a bartender so that keeps me lightly active at work during the slow summer weeks. I do stay conscious of what foods I imbibe though, & I think it has helped immensely. I started off a bigger girl, I've gained 15lbs & stayed the same weight for the last 2 months & baby is progressing on track. My midwife told me to steer clear of carbs & eat more veggies if I wanted to deliver a normal weight baby. I'm 31 wks with only 9 to go! Best of luck.0

I am trying to do the same, which is hard with all the cravings. I lost weight in the first few months of pregnancy due to morning sickness and then once I started to feel better I was starving all of the time. Now that I have gained quite a bit in the 2nd trimester I am trying to watch my diet closer. I sit all day at work and my feet are so swollen when I get done and I haven't been able to exercise like I did before. What was your starting weight for your doctor only wanting you to gain 18lbs?0

Hey everyone! Congratulations on the babies!
I am 15 weeks with my 4th baby. I always gain too muchbut this time I am being thoughtful in my food choices and activity level (hopefully I can endure through the 3rd trimester).
Sarah, I understand feeling like your starving yourswlf if not eating a lot! I was like this right from the start with my first! I ate whatever (healthy foods, but no attention paid to calories) and gained 80 pounds! I don't recommend that! This time I am keeping lots of fresh veggies that I like around, yesterday for lunch I had a bell pepper and half a sandwich, i load my meals and snacks with vegetables and that really helps. I still eat my craving foods, just the veggies first
Hoorayselma- you can do it!
Oceanemotion-good job!
Lorielon- what do you do for activity? I had to be walking (or on the elliptical) at a moderate pace for about an hour a day to not overgain. It is hard for me to find time to do this, but I am looking forward to gaining an appropriate amount for me this time.
I was overweight to begin with, so my goal is 15 - 20 pounds total. Today I am 1 pound lighter than when I found out I was pregnant. I hope I can stay eating right with more activity until the very end. Not just for the weight, but staying active really does help.1 -
Ooh, lorrielon being cranky and uncomfortable in the last few months makes me want to lay down all the time...don't do that! Keep walking a lot!0
