Fitbit Question

Can this be correct? My fitbit gives me about 1.500 exercise calories on my work days. So at the end of the day I burned about 2.500 cal. I walk about 22.000 steps at my work and throughout the day I lift a lot and constantly move. Just wondering if the exercise calories are correct or if fitbit overestimates. Does anyone with a fitbit has a strenuous job and noticed high exercises calories? If it's really correct I am way undereating.

Without knowing your stats, that actually sounds about right for the activity your describing. The only way to really know though is to be as accurate as you can with your food log for 30 days and see if you lose/maintain/gain at the rate you should have based on Fitbit's burn.

If it makes you feel a little 20k - 24k steps gets me anywhere from 2400-2600 calorie burn (5'4.5" currently in the mid 120's) and my Fitbit has been accurate with my calorie burn.

That sounds pretty fair burn imo, I average 2300 at 5ft 2 average 21k steps a day - I don't have an active job.
Fitbit has always been very accurate for me.

I agree with the other posters. I think its fairly close. If you think it may be over estimating...only eat back a portion of your calories burned. Are you losing weight? How much a week etc? These are things to take into consideration in making your decision of how to handle the burned calories. Good luck!

What FitBit are you using? It can be dramatically different if you are using HR on wrist vs. non-HR on wrist. The HR models are decent at accuracy, although anyone will tell you that trackers are always flawed, so never truly precise. The non-HR is doing a generic burn based on your personal info, so that one in many cases will overstate calorie burn, since if you are consistently active like that, your body is used to it and you hence won't burn as many calories as someone who randomly will have that much activity.

I got a fitbit surge which is wrist. Thanks everyone. I need to eat a little more, never trusted the exercise calorie burn so I was worried to eat to much. Sometimes my HR on my watch jumped to 180 and stayed there for several minutes which is impossible. But I am losing weight every other week.
